I downloaded the New AI-WX door and intalled it on Win 7 32 bit. The issue I'm having is I have to install .NET Framework 4.8.1 unfortunitely Windows 7 doesn't suppport that version. Is there amyway to get this Door to run in Windows 7?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, in order to hit the weather APIs, .NET Framework 4.8 is
the minimum that supports the needed security requirements. Older frameworks simply will not connect to modern API's. I actually built a .NET 4.7 version as a test to see and no bueno. ;(
I tried like hell to get 4.8 to run but no go. I read in some forums
that it is possible but I don't think it is. :(
Anyway it's a pretty cool Weather Door.

Have you considered switching to Windows 10 32 bit?

I'm assumming running doors on Win10 32 is just as easy as Win 7 32?
I have found it to be almost identical myself. Just ensure NTVDM is enabled in the Additional Windows Settings section of the Add and Remove Program applet of Win 10 (32 bit). I've also found legit OEM copies of Windows 10 32 bit for cheap online.
Windows 10 is ending security update support next month. However, I just updated my Win 10 32 bit BBS machine today and chose the Enroll Now
option when prompted to within their Extend Support nag screen. At which point it gave me FREE security updates until October of 2026. An additional year of security updates for free works for me.

if you have sync turned on, or if you are a non commercial user of windows you can get that 1 year.

Ah, I was wondering why I got an extra year free.
I have condisidered Win 10. Originally I had the BBS running on
a P4 With Win 7. Recently moved it over to a Mini PC under
proxmox. It was easy just to move all install from the old
computer the new one so I kept Win 7. I'm assumming running
doors on Win10 32 is just as easy as Win 7 32?

yep they are sending out emails about it. i can't update to 11 because my processor is blacklisted even though it meets the requirements. i was too lazy to change my processor and now so much time has passed i'll just get a new desktop computer eventually.

I've bought several Dell 7050 and 3050 machines off of eBay that the processors are one generation too old. But if I turn on TPM 2.0 in
the bios, I can install a fresh copy of Windows 11 Pro and they run
without issue. They won't update from Windows 10, but they will
accept a fresh install. May be worth buying a new SSD and giving
it a try.
